In December, my friend Leah asked if I wanted to take a Digital Photography class with her. In the meantime, Leah has been working on a business plan for our photography business in the future. I'm not sure she knows me well enough to actually want to work with me, but the prospects of a career change are oh so fun to dream about. "They say" a person changes careers an average of 4 times by the time they are 40. I'm only on number 2, so it's a very possible option...can you say "work from home" and "keep own hours," I happen to be very fond of those phrases!
Anyway, our first class was tonight, in Arlington. I have to say it was more fun getting out on a Wednesday night than actually paying attention to the class, but I think it'll get better after the instructor gets past telling us all about what he does and likes. I have already learned a lot. He gave us over twenty pages of handouts to help us learn more about what we discussed tonight. I'm excited for my homework assignment (capturing "lines" in an image), and I'll post it here before next Wednesday.

Hey, taking a photography class is great! I was actually thinking about that today. I would love to take a photography class.
There is a website that has weekly challenges that is a great place to post a weekly picture of whatever the challenge is. It is also great to look at others interpretations. I think two of the best ways to be a better photographer is to take more pictures of things you wouldn't normally take, and to look at other peoples photos to learn what make a good picture. This website is a great place to do both on a weekly basis. Plus if you do it weekly, it forces you to take more pictures, which only makes you better.

I heard from Rob you have a nice camera and you like to take pictures. When I wasn't working for a while, I was thinking about becoming a photo journalist because I thought it would be so cool to take photos like the photos in Time magazine...
