I often feel like we just run around having fun and neglect our adult duties. Our apartment is fairly clean and neat as the space allows, bills are paid and we never miss a day of work, but I still feel sometimes like we're just out of college. So, this weekend, I kind of feel like an adult for once.
On Friday, we attended a wine dinner at Flemings in Tyson's Corner, where Ryan was the guest speaker. I've never been to a wine dinner, and it was pretty cool. The Oscars were the theme and the Francis Ford Coppola wines were much better than I had expected. The Director's Cut Pinot Noir and Blanc de Blanc Sparkling Wine were particularly good. The food and conversation at the table were good too, and Ryan's wine knowledge was the topic of conversation most of the time. He still amazes me that he can answer nearly any wine-related wine question and provide an additional source of information to go to.
Yesterday, we got up early to meet a mortgage broker for a few hours and then met our realtor shortly after to discuss the possibilities of us purchasing a poperty. We were home in time to gather the laundry and head to church. After mass, we completed our laundry and stopped at CiCi's Pizza for a cheap dinner before heading in for the night. We watched Babel...not as impressive as we'd hoped. It wasn't a terrible movie or anything, just nothing special.
Today we woke up to about two or three inches of snow, well beyond the less than one inch that was predicted. We headed out to find some furniture stores, but found the road conditions were deteriorating quickly, so we decided to come home and hang out for the afternoon, watch another movie and relax until the Oscar's tonight. All-in-all a productive weekend.
Check out the now six inches of snow that have fallen over the DC metro area...very likely to be enough for at least a late start to my day tomorrow. The images of our road, are the best conditions they have been in the entire time we've lived in Northern Virginia (note that there is usually enough room for people to park on both sides of the street and still have traffic moving in each direction. The highways honestly don't look much better than this after they've been "completely cleared."

Ryan a guest speaker? Wow, that's kind of interesting... We woke to 6 inches, I am about to go out and clear the cars off. Hopefully I can find my shovel...
When we went on our honeymoon in Belize we stayed at Francis Ford's villa in the jungle and enjoyed the wine immensely. I still have the bottle of cabernet as a momento. In the bar they have the ceiling fan from the opening sequence of "Apocalypse Now."
Can't believe Ryan is asked to speak anywhere :)
Most times I also feel like I'm just out of college (although being in grad school, I guess I'm still there) even though I student teach in front of a bunch of high schoolers.
Those snow shots are something all Eugenians are insanely jealous for; we're lucky to get anything, and they delay/close schools for an inch!
