Here's Céad Míle Fáilte to friend and to rover
That's a greeting that's Irish as Irish can be
It means you are welcome
A thousand times over
Wherever you come from,
Whosoever you be
Most of you know, how much I love to celebrate and share my Irish heritage. But do you know how Irish I am? When in Ireland, Liam O'Riordian (song writer) told me that he never would have guessed me to be an American, that my face is "a picture of Ireland." I always knew that to be true with 5 of my 8 (62%) great grandparents having come straight from Ireland (two others I'm sure had Irish, but I don't know how much). I figure myself to be at least 70% Irish and the other 30% is Irish at heart.
Throughout at least the first half of this month, I plan to share my love of the Irish culture with you. So check out the right side-bar for all the Irish (and Gaelic) quotes, proverbs, sayings, prayers, toasts and images you can handle...new postings each day until St. Patrick's Day (March 17th).
Sláinte!
(the Irish "cheers" literally means to your health - pronounced "slon' cha")

Heil Erin! Eins, zwei, gusaffe!
I was enthralled with Ireland myself and after being a nanny for a year, I took some time off and went on a ten day walking tour of Ireland. I went by myself, but it was a group tour and we stayed in bed and breakfasts and hiked around the hills- Donegal, County Clare, etc. I'll have to scan my photo journal from my travels and post it on the site this month for folks to enjoy. I've been meaning to do it for awhile now!
