I took off my engagement ring about a month ago because my fingers were swelling and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get it off at all if I waited any longer. My wedding ring is slightly larger, but I knew I'd have to take it off soon too. I was going to go get a cheap band to wear while I am pregnant, but never really got around to it. While in a very hot room for a meeting on Thursday, my left ring finger started throbbing. I looked down and my hands were very swollen and my ring finger was struggling to to carry blood to and from the tip of my finger. Ok, I get it, time to remove the ring!
We went to try to find another ring today, and the girl at the jewelry store convinced me that I'll spend more time trying to resize the ring to fit my swollen finger than it is worth, especially since warm weather only makes the swelling worse. So, despite the fact that we actually found a really inexpensive option with unlimited number of times I could get it sized, we left without a ring. I know she's right, since the size I'd need now was several sizes larger than my rings. But, I've grown accustomed to the tradition of the wedding ring and I am very sad to not have some symbol of commitment on my finger.
After discussing it with Ryan, I think the whole big pregnant belly does the same trick as any old ring. So for those of you who, like me, wonder when a married person removes their wedding ring if it is a sign that times are bad...I'm just swelling!

On the prowl again! Sweet, let's go out on Saturday. I'll take you to see your favorite Irish bands!
The things we women worry about when we are pregnant! Listen, after two pregnancies I have learned that something is going right in a marriage at some point. You could always get a nice chain and place your wedding band on it. That way you will have it close to your heart.
Just don't worry about it for now. Soon, you will be forgetting where you put it anyway.
