Erin K. Dowdell and Ryan G. Gibbens, both of Chantilly, Va., were united in marriage on Sept. 9.
The Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiated the nuptial Mass at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown.
The bride is the daughter of Timothy E. Dowdell of Uniontown and the late Tamara A. Rice. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Rice of Uniontown and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dowdell of Uniontown.
The bridegroom is the son of Robert W. Gibbens Jr. of Okeechobee, Fla., and Debra C. Gibbens, also of Okeechobee.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore an ivory, A-line gown with strapless bodice and semi-cathedral train, all adorned with pearls.
Kristy Beth McCoy was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Tara Stage and Andrea Dowdell, sisters of the bride; Amy Gibbens, and Amy Gibbens-Rolph, sisters-in-law of the bridegroom. Junior bridesmaids were Rebecca Stage, niece of the bride, and Alexandria Saunders, niece of the bridegroom. Flower girl was Gabrielle Rice, cousin of the bride.
Best man was Tommy Zadeh. Groomsmen were Robert Gibbens III, Rory Gibbens-Rolph, and Travis Gibbens, brothers of the bridegroom; and Evan Dowdell, brother of the bride. Ryan Dowdell, brother of the bride, and Christian Stage, nephew of the bride, were junior groomsmen.
A reception was held at the Uniontown Jewish Community Center.
The bride graduated in 1998 from Laurel Highlands High School and is a 2001 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in elementary and early childhood education. She earned a master of education degree in instructional technology in 2006 from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. She is employed with WinTec Arrowmaker Inc. as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense in Arlington, Va.
The bridegroom graduated from Oley Valley High school in Oley and in 2000 earned a bachelor of science degree in finance and international business from Pennsylvania State University at State College. He is employed as a wine consultant with Virginia Imports Ltd., based in Alexandria, Va.
The couple honeymooned in Ireland. They reside in Chantilly.
